Jaipur, The Pink City

Jaipur, India’s first planned city, has a long history of being home to a dynasty of kings who resided in opulent forts and palaces. But that isn’t the only thing that makes Rajasthan’s capital city famous. Pink has been used to paint the entire city of Jaipur, and there is a really intriguing tale behind this. The influence of a ruler by the name of Sawai Ram Singh was the cause of the city’s terracotta-pink color. Albert Edward, the son of Queen Victoria, is credited for referring to Jaipur as the “pink city” in 1876. It is a great city to visit near Chandigarh if you want to spend your weekend with your family or friends.
